Phase one of the Imarisha Barabara programme in Eburru-Mbaruk Ward, Gilgil Sub-County, has been completed, covering 16 km of grading and 15 km of gravelling on the Morgen-Cidar-Songoloi-Olepolos-Oljorai road.
County Secretary Dr Samuel Mwaura and CECM for Infrastructure, Eng. Michael Kamau, while inspecting the works, engaged residents along the route on county programmes, including Vocational Training Centres and the Wezesha Fund.
Community members expressed appreciation for the county’s interventions in the area, with Ms Hellen, a resident, appreciating the Governor for the project.
“We are very grateful to Governor Susan Kihika for the road, which will make it easier to transport our produce, the uji programme in ECDEs, prompt response during the 2024 floods, and the donation of tents to CCM Olepolos Church. This is the first time we have felt this close to our government.”
In response to issues raised, the officials committed to constructing water pans, providing jerseys and balls for youth teams, and distributing seedlings to the elderly at Tangi Sita. They further encouraged residents to participate in prioritising, through public participation, the inclusion of a bridge at Tangi Sita Primary School and a dispensary in the area for the next financial year’s budget.
